How Sleeping Position Affects the Mattress You Should Buy (MalaysiaGuide)

Your sleeping position plays a major role in determining the right mattress for your body. Many Malaysians experience back pain, shoulder pressure, and poor sleep simply because they’re using a mattress that doesn’t match how they sleep. In this guide, we explain how side, back, and stomach sleepers should choose the right
mattress and how Dreamland Malaysia’s advanced technologies like Miracoil® and Duralastic® springs can provide the ideal support for every sleep style.

Why Sleeping Position Matters

Each sleeping position puts pressure on different parts of the body. The wrong mattress can
lead to:
● spine misalignment
● body aches
● poor blood circulation
● tossing and turning
● low-quality sleep

Choosing a mattress based on your sleeping position ensures better comfort, proper support, and long-term spine health.

  1. Best Mattress for Side Sleepers

Side sleepers make up nearly 60% of Malaysians, making this the most common sleep position.

    What Side Sleepers Need
    ● medium to medium-soft comfort
    ● pressure relief for shoulders & hips
    ● good contouring
    ● support to keep the spine straight
    Recommended Mattress Type
    ● memory foam hybrid
    ● Miracoil® spring mattress with plush top
    ● soft-to-medium firmness Dreamland mattress

    Why
Side sleepers need a mattress that absorbs pressure, allows the shoulders to sink slightly, and keeps the spine aligned.

    Dreamland Recommendation
Dreamland mattresses with Miracoil® Spring System + soft plush top are ideal because they relieve pressure while maintaining long-term durability.
  2. Best Mattress for Back Sleepers

Back sleepers need the most balanced support to maintain the natural curve of the spine.

    What Back Sleepers Need
    ● medium-firm to firm support
    ● stability for the lower back
    ● minimal sinking
    ● proper weight distribution
    Recommended Mattress Type
    ● orthopedic or chiropractic mattress
    ● Miracoil® firm support mattress
    ● Duralastic® spring mattress

    Why
A mattress that is too soft causes the hips to sink, straining the spine. A medium-firm to firm surface keeps the body properly aligned.

    Dreamland Recommendation
Dreamland’s Chiropractic and Miracoil® mattresses give back sleepers strong lumbar support and long-term stability.
  3. Best Mattress for Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleeping is the least common but the most risky for the spine.

    What Stomach Sleepers Need
    ● firm support
    ● minimal sinking
    ● strong core support
    ● breathable surface
    Recommended Mattress Type
    ● firm spring mattress
    ● Miracoil® or Pocket Spring models
    ● latex hybrid (for breathability)

    Why
A firm mattress prevents the hips and chest from collapsing into the surface which helps protect the lower back and neck.

    Dreamland Recommendation
Dreamland’s firm Duralastic® spring mattresses help stomach sleepers reduce pressure on the spine while improving sleeping posture.
  4. Best Mattress for Combination Sleepers

If you switch between multiple positions throughout the night, you need a mattress that is:
    ● responsive
    ● supportive
    ● medium-firm
    ● motion-isolating
    Recommended Mattress Type
    ● Miracoil® hybrid mattress
    ● latex or resilient foam mattress

    Why
Combination sleepers need a mattress with bounce + contouring to easily change positions without disturbing sleep.

    Dreamland Recommendation
Dreamland’s Miracoil® Spring System provides strong motion isolation and instant responsiveness, perfect for multi-position sleepers.

Bonus Tip: Consider Malaysia’s Hot & Humid Weather

No matter your sleeping position, Malaysians should choose a mattress with:
● breathable fabrics
● moisture-resistant materials
● anti-dust-mite protection
● liquid-repellent surface (Dreamland’s specialty)

Dreamland integrates these features to ensure long-lasting comfort in Malaysia’s tropical climate.
